Mac Firefox - 32 bit mode posted Sep 15, 2014, 8:59 AM by PDF Information  [ updated Sep 15, 2014, 9:02 AM] If you are using Firefox on a Mac running Java 6 to access InSite, it will need to be configured to run in 32 bit mode. Here is how to make sure it is.Quit Firefox if it's currently running.
Open the Applications folder on your Mac hard drive and locate the Firefox application.

Select the Firefox application (don't launch Firefox) and from select File > Get Info (⌘I) from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the Firefox.app Info dialog box under General make sure that Open in 32-bit modeIS checked.

Close the Firefox.app Info dialog box and re-launch Firefox. 
Firefox will now run in 32 bit mode.
Note: Mozilla began to automatically switch users from 32-bit Firefox to 64-bit Firefox, starting with the update to Firefox version 56.0.1 on October 9, 2017. I tried again just now, clicking the same in that 'platforms and languages download page' (that is, clicking the column 'Windows', NOT the 'Windows 64-bit' at its right), and now that gives me a new version, which apparently became available in the meantime, that is 'Firefox Setup 55.0.3.exe', and this time when I do exactly the same but with that new installer, I do get FF32.  Scroll down the list of appsprograms until you find the Mozilla Firefox item that contains x86 in the name. Select it, and click .
 Follow the prompts in the Uninstall Wizard to complete the removal of the 32-bit version.
 Run the Firefox Setup file you saved to your computer and follow the prompts to install the 64-bit version of Firefox.
